Peshawar: Government officials say that more than 8,000 Fitna Khawarij terrorists are present in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who take shelter among the general population and attack the forces.
According to government officials, Fitna Khawarij entered Pakistan from Afghanistan through unknown routes. More than 8,000 terrorists are present in Peshawar, Tank, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Swat, Shangla, and the merged districts, while over 800 terrorists are present in Bajaur and Khyber.
Government officials say that terrorists also set up checkpoints on the CPEC road, Dera Ismail Khan to Bannu, and in Tank. The terrorists hiding among the population attack the security forces, which causes difficulties for the forces in retaliatory action. Due to challenges in retaliatory operations, the forces have also suffered casualties.
Officials said that in jirgas chaired by the KP Chief Minister, tribal elders expressed displeasure over the infiltration of terrorists from Afghanistan. The tribal elders demanded that the Chief Minister raise the issue of infiltration with the Afghan government.
According to government officials, in North Waziristan and Bajaur, security forces killed 80 infiltrating terrorists in the past few weeks.
In this regard, IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed, while talking to Geo News, said that they are aware of the presence of Fitna Khawarij in KP and their terrorist activities. He said that several Khawarij have been killed in Dera Ismail Khan, Lakki Marwat, Bajaur, Waziristan, Khyber, Bannu, and Dir. Last month, in 190 operations, 39 Khawarij were killed and 110 were arrested.
IG Zulfiqar Hameed said that strict notice has been taken of Fitna Khawarij setting up checkpoints on roads, and that round-the-clock patrolling has been started on CPEC in collaboration with Motorway Police.
