The federal government has decided to provide relief in electricity bills for flood-affected people. The purpose of the decision is to provide relief to distressed flood victims.
According to a report citing sources, the federal government is considering abolishing General Sales Tax, FC surcharge, and fixed charges on electricity bills for flood victims.
As per the report, a proposal to abolish General Sales Tax and excise duty on fuel price adjustment is also under consideration. In addition, the removal of income tax, further and additional taxes, as well as retailer sales tax on electricity bills is also being considered.
It should be noted that in Punjab, large-scale flooding has damaged agricultural land and displaced millions of people.
Yesterday, Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also demanded the government to impose an agricultural emergency and waive electricity bills for farmers.
Analysts believe that the federal government’s decision to provide relief in electricity bills for flood victims is a positive step, which can be seen as an effort to reduce the difficulties of flood-affected people.
