The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced a reduction in power tariffs by Rs 1.78 per unit under monthly fuel cost adjustments in a welcome move for electricity consumers across the country.
The relief will be reflected in electricity bills issued in September 2025.
The notification stated that electricity has been made cheaper in the Monthly Fuel Price Adjustment for July 2025. This reduction in electricity prices will apply to K-Electric and DISCOs (distribution companies) consumers.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had requested a reduction of Rs. 1.69 per unit in the adjustment for July.
The reduction in electricity prices under the fuel adjustment head will provide consumers with relief amounting to approximately Rs. 24.5 billion.
Last month, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) had approved a reduction of Rs1.89 per unit in electricity tariffs under the quarterly adjustment for April to June 2025.
