The government has decided to establish the first-ever Command and Control Center in Islamabad. As part of a pilot project, a government-level Fusion Center will be created to provide all essential services to citizens. The project aims to enable smart traffic management, air quality monitoring, waste management, and transportation oversight.
The Ministry of IT and Telecom has announced the launch of this initiative under the “Smart Islamabad” program. According to official documents, the pilot project will include a comprehensive Fusion Center where citizens can access various public services.
Officers from all relevant departments of Islamabad will be stationed at the Command and Control Center. The project will facilitate integrated systems for smart traffic, environmental monitoring, waste disposal, and transport management.
Under the plan, additional smart devices and sensors will be installed, and real-time data systems will be enhanced for better citizen services. The Fusion Center will include real-time data integration and a centralized command platform.
According to the documents, the total cost of the project has been set at Rs. 708.385 million. The Planning Division has approved Rs. 250 million in funding for the project.
In the first phase, the Command and Control Center will be established, with necessary software and staff deployed to operate the system. The ultimate goal is to develop an AI-based platform and a National Replication Blueprint.
