A young motorcyclist was killed after being struck by a speeding trailer in front of the Razzaqabad Police Training Center on the National Highway in Karachi on Monday. The trailer driver has been arrested.
According to details, the rising number of deadly accidents caused by heavy traffic continues to claim lives in Karachi. On Monday, in the jurisdiction of Shah Latif Town Police Station, a speeding trailer hit and killed a motorcyclist near the Razzaqabad Police Training Center.
The victim’s body was moved to Jinnah Hospital for legal formalities, where he was identified as 20-year-old Zeeshan, son of Akbar Jan.
Following the incident, enraged citizens at the scene smashed the trailer’s windows. Police arrived shortly after being informed, seized the trailer, and arrested the driver, identified as Mashooq Ali, son of Ahmed.
According to police, the young man died after being hit by the trailer. Legal proceedings are underway against the driver for reckless driving.
As of August 2025, Karachi has experienced a significant rise in traffic-related incidents. According to official reports, at least 538 people have lost their lives in road accidents across the city during the first seven months of the year. This marks a substantial increase compared to the same period in 2024, when 551 fatalities were recorded.
The majority of these accidents involved heavy vehicles such as trailers, dumpers, and water tankers. These incidents have raised concerns about road safety and the need for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations.
