In its hostility towards Pakistan, the Modi government went beyond limits but could not harm Islamabad; however, India blocked Azerbaijan from becoming a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and also prevented Armenia from joining the SCO.
According to sources, Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev raised this issue during his meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in the Chinese city of Tianjin, saying that because of supporting Pakistan, the Indian government is trying to take revenge on Baku in international organizations.
Ilham Aliyev said that he congratulates Pakistan on its victory against India. Azerbaijan and Pakistan have brotherly relations, but India has taken offense at them.
It is important to note here that Pakistan and Türkiye have close ties with Azerbaijan, while India has very close economic and defense relations with Armenia. Meanwhile, propaganda is being spread from India that Pakistan has obstructed Armenia’s membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The fact is that informally, there was a condition that both Azerbaijan and Armenia be admitted to the SCO simultaneously. Unfortunately, India blocked Azerbaijan’s membership, which resulted in New Delhi itself obstructing Armenia’s membership as well.
