In 99 specific districts of the country, a phase-wise anti-polio campaign has been launched, during which more than 28 million children will be administered polio drops. More than 240,000 polio workers are performing important duties.
According to the National Emergency Operations Center, during the anti-polio campaign, more than 4.1 million children in 7 districts of Punjab will be given the vaccine. However, due to the flood situation, the polio campaign has been postponed in 9 districts.
In 25 districts of Sindh, more than 8.9 million children, in 26 districts of Balochistan, more than 2.1 million children, and in 27 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, more than 5.7 million children will be administered polio drops.
In southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, this campaign will begin on September 15. In addition, in 2 districts each of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, children will also be given the polio vaccine, while in Islamabad, more than 450,000 children will be administered polio drops.
The National Emergency Operations Center has appealed to parents to cooperate with polio teams and ensure that their children under 5 years of age are given 2 drops of the polio vaccine under all circumstances, as these drops protect children from lifelong disability.
