Air operations at Sialkot International Airport have been fully restored after a temporary suspension caused by floodwater in the surrounding areas, airport authorities confirmed Monday.
According to spokesperson Muhammad Umair Khan, the suspension notification has been canceled, and flights resumed at 6 p.m. “All air operations have been restored at Sialkot International Airport,” he said, adding that necessary checks were carried out before reopening.
Khan clarified that while floodwater was being drained from parts of the airport’s vicinity, the main infrastructure remained secure.
“The runway, taxiway, apron, terminal building, and main premises are completely safe from floodwater. All equipment installed at the airport is also safe,” he assured.
The airport spokesperson expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Army and the district administration for their assistance in handling the situation. He said the airport management, in coordination with local authorities, continues to monitor conditions closely to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Flights were earlier suspended as a precautionary measure after water from nearby flooding entered parts of the airport’s outer areas. However, officials stressed that no damage had been reported to the airport’s operational facilities.
