Wheat and flour prices have increased further in Punjab, with the price of wheat reaching Rs. 3,100 per 40 kilogram.
According to details, following the surge in wheat and flour prices, the Punjab government has decided to release official wheat into the market to stabilize prices.
The Flour Mills Association said ted that wheat in the open market has climbed to Rs. 3,100 per maund, recording an increase of Rs. 700 per maund in the past 15 days.
The Association further said in its statement that the price of a 20-kilogram flour bag has risen by Rs. 300 over the last week.
However, the Punjab government has planned to supply wheat at the rate of Rs. 2,900 per maund.
A statement from the provincial food department said that releasing official wheat into the market would help bring stability.
It is noteworthy that flour prices have risen across the country. Over the past week, the price of a 20-kilogram bag has increased by up to Rs. 217, forcing residents of Karachi and Islamabad to purchase the most expensive flour in Pakistan.
According to the Federal Bureau of Statistics, in the past week the price of a 20-kilogram flour bag rose by Rs. 217 in Sialkot, and by Rs. 200 in Lahore, Gujranwala, Multan, and Bannu.
The Bureau reported that the price of a 20-kilogram bag rose by Rs. 193.34 in Bahawalpur, Rs. 187.67 in Rawalpindi, Rs. 173.33 in Islamabad, Rs. 173 in Sargodha, Rs. 160 in Sukkur, Rs. 130 in Quetta, Rs. 100 in Karachi and Sukkur, and Rs. 50 in Peshawar.
Following the increase, the Bureau stated that the price of a 20-kilogram bag reached Rs. 1,786.67 in Rawalpindi, Rs. 1,690 in Quetta, Rs. 1,680 in Hyderabad, and Rs. 1,667 in Sialkot.
