TEXAS — An unfortunate incident of desecration of the Holy Quran has taken place in the U.S. state of Texas, drawing outrage from Muslim communities and civil society groups.
According to international media reports, the act was carried out by Valentina Gomez, an extremist Republican candidate, who burned a copy of the Quran and posted the video on her official X (formerly Twitter) account.
The video quickly went viral, sparking strong condemnation from religious scholars, political leaders, and social media users worldwide.

In her provocative post, Gomez declared that she aimed to “eliminate Islam from Texas” and urged her supporters to help elect her to the U.S. Congress.
Gomez is currently contesting as the Republican Party’s candidate from a congressional district in Texas for the 2026 elections.
In response, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) strongly denounced the act, calling it dangerous for society and an attack on religious freedom.
CAIR, along with other civil society organizations, has demanded that Gomez be held accountable for her hateful and inflammatory actions.
