Deputy Attorney General Salman Ali Qureshi’s stance has come forward regarding his wife assaulting a woman motorcyclist. He has also expressed disassociation from the involvement of his family in the violence.
According to details, Deputy Attorney General Salman Ali Qureshi said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was misbriefed, and if he were removed as a result of the social media campaign, he would not be able to face the public. He said that if his family was involved in the violence, he disassociates himself from it.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Attorney General also appealed to the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Punjab to investigate the matter. He added that although the Prime Minister had sent the summary of his removal to the President of Pakistan, he had not received any official notice and was still serving as Deputy Attorney General.
Background of the Incident
It should be recalled that on August 17 in Multan, men and women assaulted a mother and daughter riding a motorcycle after their bike collided with a car.
The victim, Maimoona, was taking her daughter home on her son-in-law’s motorcycle when it collided with Zahida’s car. In response, Zahida, along with her son and sister, assaulted Maimoona, her daughter, and her son-in-law on the road.
After the video of the incident went viral on social media, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recommended to the President of Pakistan that Deputy Attorney General Salman Ali Qureshi be removed from his post.
