The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Faisalabad, while announcing the verdict in the case of the attack on Rana Sanaullah’s house on May 9, sentenced former Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and Senate Omar Ayub and Shibli Faraz, along with 59 accused, to 10 years imprisonment each.
According to details, the hearing of the case of the attack on the house of Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah on May 9 took place in the Anti-Terrorism Court in Faisalabad.
ATC Faisalabad, while announcing the verdict in the case of the attack on Rana Sanaullah’s house, acquitted former Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry and PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s son, Zain Qureshi.
The court sentenced former Federal Minister Zartaj Gul, in addition to former Opposition Leaders Omar Ayub and Shibli Faraz, to 10 years imprisonment each.
The Anti-Terrorism Court sentenced a total of 59 PTI leaders and workers to 10 years imprisonment each.
It should be noted that on May 9, 2023, the case of the attack on the house of former Federal Minister Rana Sanaullah was registered at Samanabad police station.
Background
On May 9, 2023, after the arrest of Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust case from the premises of Islamabad High Court, PTI staged nationwide protests.
During this time, on May 9 in Model Town Lahore, in addition to burning the office of PML-N, military, civil, and private installations were set on fire, government and private property was severely damaged, while at least 8 people were killed and 290 injured.
Protesters also stormed the residence of the Corps Commander in Lahore, also known as Jinnah House, and broke one of the gates of the General Headquarters (GHQ) located in Rawalpindi.
After that, across the country, 1,900 people involved in clashes with law enforcement agencies, vandalism, and arson were arrested, while cases were also registered against Imran Khan, his party leaders, and workers.
