Despite announcing the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, India, which carried out terrorism in Pakistan under the name ‘Operation Sindoor,’ has contacted Pakistan regarding the flood situation.
According to details, a report citing official sources claims that India has warned Pakistan about a possible major flood at the Jammu location.
According to the report, official sources stated that although India has announced the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, the Indian High Commission in Islamabad informed Pakistan about the potential flood situation.
The report, citing official sources, mentioned that India contacted Pakistan on the morning of August 24 at 10 a.m. and provided advance notice about the possible flood situation.
This is the first major contact between the two countries following the tensions and limited conflict in May, and the Foreign Office spokesperson has not yet given a position on this matter.
The district administration stated that water discharge in the Tawi River at the Jammu location was recorded at 18,467 cusecs. Concerns have increased that 18 villages may be affected by the flood situation.
The district administration also said that, in view of the possible flood, 5,047 people in rural areas may be displaced or affected. Areas that could be impacted include Nadala, Syed Pur, Chak Salehrian, Abdal, and Chak Balu Saleh Pur Zaid.
