The federal government has announced a major policy shift by approving the implementation of a uniform monthly tariff adjustment across the country, including Karachi.
The federal cabinet gave its approval to the decision taken by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on August 19, under which monthly adjustments in electricity tariffs will now be applied uniformly nationwide.
Previously, K-Electric had a separate adjustment mechanism, while the rest of the country followed a different system.
Under the new decision, any increase or decrease in fuel adjustment will apply equally to all consumers across Pakistan.
It should be noted that the base tariff and quarterly adjustments are already applied uniformly throughout the country, including Karachi. With this new policy, the monthly adjustment will also be standardized in the same way.
