Seven individuals celebrating the court’s decision to grant bail to PTI founder Imran Khan in the May 9 cases have been arrested, and a case has been registered against them.
The case against the accused was registered at Civil Lines Police Station, Lahore, on the complaint of the police. According to police, some women present at the scene were also taken into custody.
Police stated that the arrested individuals had blocked Mall Road, disrupting the flow of traffic. The detainees will be presented before the court after completion of legal proceedings.
It is noteworthy that yesterday the Supreme Court had approved bail for PTI founder Imran Khan in eight cases related to May 9. A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Justice Yahya Afridi approved Imran Khan’s bail in the May 9 cases.
The Supreme Court annulled the Lahore High Court’s decision rejecting bail. In its remarks, the court said that if the accused is not wanted in any other case, release must be ordered. The Chief Justice stated that the order will be written in a way that ensures no one’s trial is affected.
