Model Azbia Khan, known for her bold photoshoots, has drawn severe backlash after posing for a bold photoshoot at Lahore’s 380-year-old historic Wazir Khan Mosque, which led Akbari Gate police to register a case against her and the photographer.
The Punjab Auqaf and Religious Affairs Department had previously prohibited the filming of dramas and movies in mosques and shrines after a controversial music video featuring actress Saba Qamar at Wazir Khan Mosque sparked outrage over alleged violations of the mosque’s sanctity.
In the recent case, an FIR was lodged against model Azbia Khan and photographer Zain Shah on the complaint of Mohammad Awais, an official of the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA).
The complaint accused the two of disrespecting the mosque’s sanctity after a video clip was uploaded to social media.
According to the FIR, the model appeared in what was described as an “inappropriate” outfit, and the shoot was carried out without obtaining prior permission from the concerned authorities.
The video, reportedly recorded four days earlier, was later shared online, which the complainant said not only breached the sanctity of the mosque but also harmed the reputation of the WCLA.
