Cloudbursts, landslides, and flood torrents in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir have caused large-scale destruction; so far, 61 people have died in various incidents while many are missing.
According to rescue officials, in Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in the Jabragai area, last night’s flood torrent destroyed several houses, and connecting roads and bridges were washed away in the water.
The bodies of 21 people have been recovered so far in various incidents, while local residents say that 7 people are missing, for whom search operations are ongoing. After providing first aid to three injured persons, they were shifted to the hospital.
Meanwhile, in the Battagram area of Mansehra district, a cloudburst late at night swept away several people in the torrent. Seven people died in Battagram, and one person died in Shangla.
Many houses in the area have been destroyed, and a large number of livestock were also swept away in the flood torrent; search operations for them are ongoing, according to the police.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has also released details of the damages caused by cloudbursts, rains, and floods in the province.
According to the statistics issued by PDMA, 43 people have died in various incidents caused by cloudbursts and rains in five districts of the province.
According to the issued details, in Bajaur 21, in Swat 4, in Lower Dir 5, in Battagram 7, and in Shangla one person died. Eight people were injured in Bajaur, and four in Lower Dir.
Meanwhile, Medical Officer Dr. Imtiaz of Pir Baba Hospital in Buner has stated that so far 43 bodies have been brought from Pir Baba and surrounding areas. The brought bodies include 25 women and 18 children.
On the other hand, in Azad Kashmir, after a cloudburst caused flooding in streams and rivers, eight people died, including six members of the same family, while in Gilgit-Baltistan, 10 people died in various incidents after rain.
