A landslide triggered by heavy monsoon rains struck near Manoga Nullah in Gilgit on Monday, killing at least six people and leaving nine others seriously injured.
According to rescue officials, the victims were among 15 people working to restore a flood-damaged water channel when they were buried under debris. Locals and emergency teams rushed to the scene, recovering six bodies and pulling the injured from the rubble. Most of the injured are reported to be in critical condition and have been shifted to a nearby hospital.
The incident comes amid weeks of severe weather in Gilgit-Baltistan, where landslides, flash floods, and glacial lake outbursts have caused widespread destruction. Authorities have declared multiple areas disaster-hit as rescue and relief operations continue.
