According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), tremors of an earthquake were felt in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at 2 AM, as reported by national media on Saturday.
According to details, PDMA has informed that the intensity of the earthquake was recorded at 5.4 with a depth of 102 kilometers, and the epicenter was in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan.
Due to the tremors, fear and panic spread in the affected areas and people came out of their homes reciting the Kalma Tayyaba. PDMA’s Emergency Operation Center is in contact with the administration of all districts; so far, no reports of casualties or property damage have been received.
PDMA has stated that in case of any emergency, contact can be made at the PDMA helpline 1700. It is worth noting that in recent months there has been an increase in incidents of tremors; more than 57 tremors were felt in Karachi during May to June.
During the same period, tremors were also felt in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan. In recent days, after an 8.8 magnitude earthquake in Russia’s coastal region, tsunami warnings were also issued in the coastal cities of Japan and the United States.
