The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a bullish trend on Thursday, as investor sentiment improved following the announcement of a trade agreement between the United States and Pakistan.
By the close of trading, the benchmark KSE-100 index had risen by 978.17 points, or 0.71%, to settle at 139,390.42.
Widespread buying activity was recorded across major sectors, including automobiles, cement, commercial banking, fertilizers, oil and gas exploration, oil marketing companies, refineries, and power generation. Prominent index-heavy stocks such as HUBCO, PSO, SNGPL, MARI, OGDC, PPL, POL, and SSGC closed in positive territory.
Market analysts attributed the rally to increased investor confidence following the bilateral agreement, which includes tariff reductions for Pakistani exports and US assistance in the development of Pakistan’s oil reserves.
“We have just concluded a deal with the country of Pakistan, whereby Pakistan and the United States will work together on developing their massive oil reserves,” US President Donald Trump announced on social media on Wednesday.
