The Chief Ombudsman of Sindh, Justice Retired Shah Nawaz Tariq, found the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of K Electric, Monis Alvi, guilty of harassing a woman and not only ordered his removal from office but also imposed a fine of Rs 25 lakh.
The verdict stated that Alvi harassed the complainant woman, caused her mental anguish, and misused his position. According to the verdict, Alvi will be liable to pay a fine of Rs 2.5 million within a month.
If the fine is not paid within the stipulated period, the Ombudsman has directed that Alvi’s movable and immovable properties be confiscated and his identity card and passport be blocked.
It may be recalled that the Board of Directors of K-Electric in its meeting held on July 7, 2025, approved the reappointment of Alvi as Chief Executive Officer, and this appointment will be effective from July 30, 2025. According to a K-Electric spokesperson, Alvi joined K-Electric in 2008 and was promoted to the position of Chief Executive Officer in 2018.
