The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has declared that M-Tags are now compulsory for all vehicles entering Islamabad, as part of a broader strategy to strengthen traffic regulation and urban mobility.
This measure, which prohibits entry into the city for vehicles without M-Tags, was approved during a high-level meeting chaired by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The meeting focused on advancing digital systems for traffic control and parking management throughout the capital.
As part of these reforms, the CDA will implement digital parking infrastructure, including the installation of automated parking meters across Islamabad. Additionally, a comprehensive survey will be conducted to evaluate the daily inflow and outflow of vehicles in the city.
Chairman Randhawa further said that parking fees will be dynamically adjusted based on traffic density, with higher charges in congested zones to prevent overcrowding and promote optimal use of available spaces.
The CDA has already initiated a digital parking system, and a mobile application or online platform will be launched in the near future. This will enable residents and visitors to pay parking fees conveniently through QR codes or mobile devices.
These developments are intended to modernize Islamabad’s transportation framework, facilitate digital transactions, and enhance the overall commuting experience for both citizens and travelers.
