In the preliminary investigation report of the building collapse incident in Lyari, 14 people, including 6 directors of the SBCA, have been found responsible, as reported by national media on Friday.
According to details, the police have submitted the preliminary investigation report regarding the Lyari Baghdadi building collapse incident to the City Court, in which 14 people, including 6 directors of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) and the building owner, have been found responsible.
The report stated that SBCA officers were aware of the dilapidated condition of the building since 2022, and despite knowing this, they did not take serious action.
The report stated that the officers showed negligence and carelessness, due to which the building collapsed. In 1986, the owner had constructed a ground-plus-five building in two sections, both of which had been dilapidated and uninhabitable for a long time.
Due to the criminal negligence of SBCA officers, one part of the building collapsed, and in the accident, 27 people including men, women, and children died, while 4 people were injured.
Police state that the case of the building collapse has been registered on behalf of the Local Government Housing Town Planning office, in which current and former SBCA officers have been nominated.
