Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s advisor and senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Rana Sanaullah, has warned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) that those who come out to protest will be detained. The PTI founder had threatened the government with protests and had called on his supporters to pursue the path of “real freedom.”
Speaking on the TV program Red Line, PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah said that during a recent meeting, discussions were held on the Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other issues, as they always seek guidance from Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who believes in dialogue and mutual understanding.
The Prime Minister’s advisor stated that Pakistan is moving toward prosperity and development, and every step will be taken to prevent instability. PTI’s Secretary General Salman Akram Raja said that the PTI founder’s sons have the right to come and lead the movement, but he does not believe the British government will allow it.
The PML-N leader said that none of PTI’s protests have been peaceful, despite their claims. “They say it will be peaceful, but they don’t know what peaceful protest means,” he added.
Rana Sanaullah also said that the Prime Minister himself had invited PTI members for talks, even saying, “If you want, I can come to the Speaker’s chamber.”
It is worth noting that Indian media is portraying a July 8 social media message by Imran Khan as a call to overthrow the current government and prepare for next year’s elections. A similar attempt to topple the government in the past had failed, resulting in Imran Khan’s imprisonment.
