Iran says Israel of killing 12 journalists during recent conflict

Iran has claimed that at least 12 journalists and media personnel were killed in Israeli airstrikes during the recent 12-day war between the two countries, according to Iranian state media.

The Basij Media Organization, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), stated that the death toll among media workers rose after the identification of two additional victims, bringing the total to a dozen, IRNA reported on Thursday.

The organization accused Israel of intentionally targeting media infrastructure, alleging that the strikes were aimed at silencing “the voice of truth” and crippling the “media of the Resistance Front” — a term commonly used to describe Iran and its allied groups opposed to Israeli policies.

This announcement comes amid growing casualty figures from the conflict, which began on June 13 with a surprise Israeli offensive that included heavy airstrikes on Iranian military installations, nuclear facilities, and civilian neighborhoods.

Among the targets hit during the war was the Iranian state broadcaster’s complex in northern Tehran.

Iranian officials report that the Israeli campaign killed over 1,060 people, including senior military officials, nuclear scientists, and civilians. In response, Iran launched waves of drone and missile attacks that left at least 28 dead in Israel, according to Israeli figures.
