A decomposed body of a woman, identified as Humaira Asghar Ali, was discovered on Monday from a flat near Lane No. 5, Ittehad Commercial, in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase 6, according to Chhipa rescue sources. The body is believed to be nearly a month old.
Chhipa personnel shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities and postmortem examination.
According to initial details provided by the police, the woman had been residing alone in the apartment for the past seven years. She was estimated to be between 30 to 35 years of age. The flat was reportedly rented by the deceased in 2018, but she had allegedly stopped paying rent since 2024.
Police further said that the property owner had filed a case with the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) over the unpaid rent. When a court bailiff visited the premises today in connection with the case, the body was discovered inside the apartment.
Law enforcement officials said the cause of death initially appears to be natural; however, a definitive determination will be made following the postmortem report.
The investigation is ongoing.
