In a landmark move to strengthen road safety and regulate the transport sector, the Sindh cabinet has approved mandatory 30-hour training for obtaining a Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV) driving license.
The decision was finalized during a cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, who also announced a lowering of the HTV license age limit from 24 to 22 years—a change expected to benefit young individuals seeking careers in commercial driving.
To modernize enforcement mechanisms, the Chief Minister revealed that the province is set to launch a new automatic fine system.
Under this system, traffic violations will immediately trigger digital notices, with repeated offenses—particularly involving tinted windows—potentially resulting in fines of up to Rs 300,000.
In another key development, the cabinet approved the establishment of special traffic courts to speed up the resolution of traffic-related cases and improve legal enforcement efficiency.
Meanwhile, officials shared that over 100,000 online driving licenses have been issued across Sindh in just the last five months—reflecting growing public confidence in the province’s digital licensing infrastructure.
These measures reflect a broader commitment by the Sindh government to enhance road discipline, embrace technology in enforcement, and ensure public safety across urban and rural road networks.
