On Thursday morning, Pakistani security forces shot down an Indian drone near Lahore Airport. The drone is reported to be approximately 5 to 6 feet long and was being operated from across the border. According to police sources, Pakistan’s security system timely detected the drone, jammed its signal, and brought it down.
The drone was sent for surveillance of highly sensitive locations and contained explosive material. It was further reported that as the drone approached a critical building, a loud explosion occurred during the attempt to bring it down; however, no casualties were reported.
Police officials state that immediately after the incident, law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and began further investigations. Sources said the drone’s structure and contents are being analyzed to understand potential threats and objectives from India.
Earlier, Pakistan Army shot down four more Indian drones over infiltration attempts, taking total number of destroyed drones to seven in one day. Security sources stated the forces downed the drones in Sialkot sector, besides confiscating two others after taking their control using the modern EW capabilities.
Sources said the Pakistan Army was giving a befitting response to the India aggression. Earlier, the security forces destroyed three drones, including armoured drone Heron, in Barnala, Shakargarh and Kotli sectors.
