The European Union will host the inaugural high-level EU-Pakistan Business Forum in May, aimed at boosting economic ties and unlocking new investment opportunities, according to a statement from the EU press office on Wednesday.
As per details, the forum, scheduled for May 14–15, will also mark the official launch of the EU-Pakistan Business Network. This initiative seeks to unify all EU businesses operating in Pakistan under a single platform, enabling them to present a coordinated voice and enhance cooperation with Pakistani stakeholders.
Pakistan has substantially increased its exports to the EU—by 108% since 2014—making it the largest beneficiary of the EU’s Generalised Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+) trade arrangement. In October 2023, the EU extended Pakistan’s GSP+ status through 2027, reinforcing its commitment to supporting developing economies.
The two-day forum will feature business-to-government sessions involving senior Pakistani officials and will also provide structured business-to-business engagement opportunities.

Moreover, the forum will support matchmaking between businesses and financial institutions under the EU’s Global Gateway initiative—the EU’s flagship external investment program. Designed to mobilize up to €300 billion in global investment by 2027, this initiative will be leveraged during the event to introduce new investment projects and funding opportunities in Pakistan.
