Pakistan’s cargo airline K2 Airways has signed an agreement with China’s state-owned Koshe Development and Logistics Company to operate direct cargo flights between the two countries.
Under the agreement, K2 Airways will begin its operations by the end of this month, launching three weekly cargo flights from Karachi to Kashgar via Lahore, China.
The signing ceremony was held at a local hotel in Karachi, with Sindh’s Minister for Industries and Commerce, Jam Ikramullah Dharejo, attending as the chief guest. Representatives from the Chinese Consulate also participated in the event.
Speaking at the occasion, Minister Dharejo emphasized that Pakistan and China are brotherly nations already connected through the mega-project CPEC. He said that the launch of this air cargo service would boost trade activities between the two countries.
K2 Airways CEO Tariq Raja highlighted that K2 Airways is Pakistan’s first cargo airline to initiate cargo services to China. He confirmed that the airline will operate regular flights to Kashgar via Lahore and will soon expand its services to other Chinese cities from Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.
A representative of the Chinese logistics firm stated that Kashgar is a key commercial hub in China, and their partnership with K2 Airways will potentially pave the way for broader trade connectivity beyond Kashgar in the near future.
