At least two Chinese citizens were killed and one injured in a bombing near Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, Beijing confirmed on Monday.
Chinese Embassy shared a statement on the attack that targeted a convoy transporting staff from the Port Qasim Electric Power Company around 11 pm on Sunday.
Beijing condemned the incident as a terrorist attack and expressed condolences to the families of the victims, pledging to cooperate with Pakistani authorities to address the situation.
According to the embassy, the convoy was carrying Chinese engineers involved in a power project in Sindh province. In response to the attack, the embassy activated an emergency plan, calling for a thorough investigation and urging Pakistani officials to enhance security measures for Chinese citizens and enterprises.
After the attack, the Chinese Embassy has advised its citizens in Pakistan to remain vigilant and ensure a thorough investigation to ensure accountability for the perpetrators.
As per Pakistani media, at least three foreign nationals died while 17 others sustained injuries in a huge explosion near Jinnah International Airport.
As per a private TV channel, it was a suicide attack and the attacker hit the convoy of foreigners with his car full of explosive material.
It should be noted that the terrorist group Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
