In a dramatic turn of events, chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, who was earlier said to be missing, reappeared on Sunday in the KP Assembly hall after the PTI announced a 24 ultimatum for his return.
Gandapur had also been part of a PTI protest convoy that he abandoned near Hassan Abdal, citing a visit to KP House in the federal capital, the reasons for which remain unclear. Upon his return, he proceeded to the KP House, which soon after, the police besieged.
Constantly referring to Gandapur by title, fellow PTI party members claimed that the Rangers had ‘bravely stormed’in KP House in order to detain him as he had just arrived in the capital to be a part of the protested organized by his faction.
Addressing a session which was held to discuss his whereabouts, Gandapur indicated that he had spent the night at the KP House.
He also stated that there were quite a lot of both the Islamabad Police and the Rangers and they came inside the KP House forcibly in order to arrest him.
“This is a historic event where the government unites against our party, exposing their intentions,” Gandapur stated.
“They crippled us and took control of our electoral symbol, they kidnapped some of our members, forced them to betray us, but they have achieved nothing.”
Gandapur, however, issued no explanation as to where he went during the time he was said to be absent. Earlier that day, the KP Assembly also adopted a resolution that called for the urgent recovery of the ‘missing’ chief minister.
