Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik has been appointed the Director-General of the Inter-Sevices Intelligence (ISI). The announcement was made by the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) in a press release issued on Monday.
According to the ISPR, Lt Gen Asim Malik will assume his new charge on September 30.
Lt. General Malik currently serving as the Adjutant General in the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. Previously he commanded an infantry division in Balochistan and an infantry brigade in Waziristan. He also won the Sword of Honour after his course.
Additionally, he has served as the Chief Instructor at the National Defense University (NDU) and as an instructor at the Command and Staff College in Quetta. He has also served in the Military Operations Directorate in the past.
Lt Gen Asim is a graduate of Fort Leavenworth and the Royal College of Defense Studies. He will replace Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum who got a year extension by Pakistan’s former caretaker government last year.
