In a recent development in the Karsaz road accident case, the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) has deemed the accused, Natasha Danish, mentally fit and discharged her from the hospital. Following this, the court has ordered her to be sent to jail on judicial remand.
On Wednesday, the case was heard in a local court in Karachi. Natasha Danish was presented before the Judicial Magistrate District East. The police requested a two-week remand for the accused, while Natasha’s defense lawyer sought bail.
The Investigating Officer informed the court that Section 322 for murder, a non-bailable offense, had been added to the FIR. The court inquired whether the police had used any violence against Natasha. She responded that they had not. Consequently, the court ordered that Natasha be transferred to jail on judicial remand and directed the investigating officer to submit a challan at the next hearing.
Earlier, Natasha, who had been receiving treatment at JPMC, was discharged. Dr. Chuni Lal, head of the hospital’s psychiatric ward, reported that Natasha’s physical condition was poor when she was admitted on August 19. Dr. Lal noted that although Natasha’s family claimed she was mentally ill, they could not provide any supporting documentation. According to Dr. Lal, Natasha’s mental condition is stable, and there is no risk of suicide.
