Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah announced that the provincial government will soon begin providing 100 free units of electricity.
This initiative is part of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) election manifesto, which pledged to offer 300 free units of electricity to the people.
Minister Shah mentioned that the plan will start with 100 free units, followed by an increase to 200 and eventually 300 units. He acknowledged that citizens are struggling with inflated electricity bills and assured that significant progress has been made in Sindh towards achieving the goal of free electricity provision.
In addition to this, the Sindh government has planned two solarization programs aimed at distributing solar panels to 200,000 households. By August, 50,000 solar panels are expected to be distributed. These solar parks are intended to generate electricity that will be supplied to the National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC).
Syed Nasir Hussain Shah also emphasized the importance of expediting efforts to ensure the distribution of solar panels to those in need by the end of August, with the process set to begin soon in each division and district.
