Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has made a significant decision to entrust the management of cricket affairs to former captain Waqar Younis.
According to sources, Chairman Naqvi will shift his focus to the board’s administrative matters, allowing a seasoned cricketer to take charge of all cricket-related decisions.
In line with Chairman Naqvi’s vision, a cricketer will be responsible for making decisions across various aspects of the sport, including international and domestic cricket, the selection committee, and the issuance of NOCs for players. This move emphasizes the importance of involving experienced cricketers in the management and decision-making processes of the sport.
Sources have revealed that Naqvi’s primary focus will be on the management of the upcoming Champions Trophy. In this context, it was decided to elevate Waqar Younis to a prominent position within the PCB, where he will oversee all matters concerning men’s cricket.
Under the PCB Constitution of 2014, the Chairman has the authority to delegate his powers, and Naqvi has exercised this right by assigning Waqar Younis a comprehensive role. Younis will manage the national team’s affairs, including overseeing the National Selection Committee and the coaching staff for both white-ball and red-ball cricket.
