Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi has been transferred from Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi to Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore.
According to jail sources, the former Foreign Minister was moved early in the morning under tight security.
Jail officials revealed that Qureshi will be presented before the Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court, where he faces multiple cases related to the May 9 incidents in Lahore. Police had reportedly conducted investigations with Qureshi in Adiala Jail regarding these cases.
Barrister Taimur Malik, Qureshi’s lawyer, confirmed that the judge of the Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court will hear the May 9 cases at Kot Lakhpat Jail today.
Shah Mehmood, along with Imran Khan, was sentenced to 10 years in prison in a cipher case by the trial court. However, the Islamabad High Court has acquitted both of them in the case. Despite this acquittal, they remain in jail due to other cases, including several related to the May 9 attack on Pakistani army institutions.
