The Indian men’s cricket team may not to travel to Pakistan for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
According to a report by Sports Tak on Saturday, July 6, the Indian team is not expected to participate in the eight-team event in Pakistan, scheduled from February 19 to March 9.
Any decision regarding India’s participation will be made by the Indian government.
“Although the tournament details have not been discussed yet, it is highly unlikely that the Indian team will travel to Pakistan. The final decision rests with the Indian government. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) intends to address this issue at the upcoming ICC meeting in Sri Lanka this month,” a source stated.
“The government’s decision will be final as we have not confirmed it internally. Since this is an ICC event, we cannot make unilateral decisions. More details may emerge during the next ICC meeting,” the source added.
Since 2008, India has not visited Pakistan. These two teams have only played one bilateral series together in the previous sixteen years, which was in 2012–13.
Due to tensions between the two countries, India was originally scheduled to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup last year. However, the event was changed to Sri Lanka, where India’s matches—including the final—were held.
