Senior Pakistani journalist and anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan was arrested once again, this time at Lahore airport on Wednesday night. Confirmation of his arrest came through a social media post from his team.
According to details shared on the microblogging platform X by his team, Imran Riaz Khan was apprehended by law enforcement officials at Lahore International Airport. This occurred despite a court order permitting him to undertake Hajj pilgrimage.
His team strongly condemned the arrest in a social media post. Additionally, they mentioned that during his detention, Imran continuously recited ‘Labik Allahuma Labik ‘ and was transported in a black double-cabin vehicle.
Earlier this year, an anti-terrorism court had granted post-arrest bail to the former TV show host in a case related to resorting to violence outside the residence of ex-PM Imran Khan.
Imran Riaz Khan’s return home came after a months-long disappearance in late 2023, during which he was detained while traveling from Sialkot airport. Despite being reportedly freed shortly after his arrest, his whereabouts remained unknown until his recovery.
His return followed legal proceedings initiated by his family, with international and local rights groups advocating for his release. His lawyer highlighted the circumstances of his return and the challenges faced during his recovery.
