Authorities have announced the issuance of a new fee structure and rate list for acquiring plots in the Karachi cattle market, the largest Asian market established annually for sacrificial animals ahead of Eid-ul-Adha.
Dividing the plots into three categories – VVIP, VIP, and General Blocks – the authorities aim to streamline operations and accommodate the various needs of cattle farmers and traders.
The newly introduced VVIP block, named Rahim Yar Khan Block, located on the right-hand side of the entrance from Northern Bypass, offers large animal stalls at a fixed price of Rs 200,000 per plot. Meanwhile, the VIP block comprises two categories, Golden and Sapphire, with plot prices set at Rs 150,000 each.
The General Block, consisting of eight blocks named after different regions, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Karachi, Punjab, Sibi, Gadap, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Balochistan, will not incur plot fees. However, animal fees will be charged, amounting to Rs 4,250 per cow, bull, or camel and Rs 2,000 per goat.
Authorities have ensured adequate facilities for animals, promising to provide 30 liters of water per animal in the cattle market. Additionally, a specialized market for goats has been established with VVIP and VIP categories, offering plots at Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively.
The booking process for plots and entry of animals commenced on Sunday, May 12, with authorities facilitating the process in the marshaling area for the convenience of traders and stakeholders. This new initiative aims to enhance the efficiency and organization of the cattle market while catering to the diverse needs of stakeholders in the livestock industry.
