Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB) on Wednesday issued a warning about an impending water supply shortage in the city.
A spokesperson for KWSB revealed that the water supply may be disrupted from May 16 to May 19 due to ongoing development work.
The suspension of operations at the New Pump House Gharo is attributed to concurrent development projects undertaken by K-Electric and KWSB.
Residents are urged to make necessary arrangements to store water in anticipation of the shortage.
During this period, Karachi is expected to experience a reduction of around 13 million gallons per day (MDG) in water supply.
The development work, which includes the installation of new electrical equipment and panels at the Gharo pumping station, will span three days.
It’s important to note that Karachi is already grappling with water scarcity issues. Many areas, including upscale neighborhoods like DHA, rely on costly tank water for daily use. Furthermore, a significant portion of the population now resorts to bottled water for drinking, as tap water quality remains inadequate for consumption.
