Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Chairman Imran Khan asserted on Saturday that certain individuals within his party, aiming to dismantle PTI, are in communication with the ‘establishment’.
Speaking to reporters at Adiala jail following the £190 million National Crime Agency (NCA) scam hearing, also known as the Al-Qadir Trust case, Khan remarked that certain PTI members are in contact with the establishment and are the ones making accusations against Bushra Bibi.
Responding to inquiries about allegations leveled against his wife by some within PTI, Khan attributed these accusations to individuals in contact with the establishment within the party.
Regarding the reconstitution of various committees within PTI, Khan mentioned that daily political affairs are overseen by the newly formed committees, with final decisions resting with the PTI core committee.
Khan further disclosed that during his arrest in August of the previous year, authorities confiscated his passport and cheque book, prompting Bushra Bibi to relocate valuable items from Bani Gala.
Accusing former minister Fawad Chaudhry of intending to leave PTI, Khan claimed that Chaudhry’s arrest was orchestrated to pressure him into becoming an approver against Khan.
Alleging involvement of certain judges, the Interior minister, former caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, caretaker government officials, and the Chief Election Commissioner in what Khan dubbed as the ‘London plan’, Khan elaborated on the intricacies of the situation.
Responding to inquiries, Khan stated that despite having the authority as prime minister, he refrained from de-notifying former Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
Meanwhile, during the hearing of the £190 million NCA scam case, the Accountability Court recorded the statement of another witness. PTI lawyers Zaheer Abbas and Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry, along with NAB Deputy Prosecutor General Sardar Muzzafar Abbas, were present during the proceedings.
With the defense counsel completing cross-examination of one witness, the court has now recorded statements from 12 witnesses, while cross-examination of nine witnesses has been conducted thus far.
