Netflix has just announced the release date of ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’, the untold true story of the late Indian singer and musician.
Helmed by Imtiaz Ali, Netflix shared a video that reads: ‘Maahaul bann jaata tha jab vo chedta tha saaz, kuch aisa hi tha Chamkila ka Andaaz’ with an emoji.

About the movie
The film shows the untold true story of Punjab’s original rockstar of the masses, Amar Singh Chamkila. The film revolves around Amarjot Kaur and Amar Singh Chamkila.
How did Chamkila die?
Amar Singh Chamkila, his wife Amarjot Kaur along with the members of their musical band were assassinated on March 8, 1988.
Three disguised men riding a motorcycle shot him, his wife, and two artists of his group four were killed and the case was never solved.
Cast
Amar Singh Chamkila stars Diljit Dosanjh as the singer and Parineeti Chopra will be essaying the role of Amarjot, Chamkila’s wife.
