Actor Jeremy Renner shares with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen how he got through his recovery from being crushed by a snow plow on New Year’s Day.
The 52-year-old actor from Avengers had numerous surgeries and more than 30 broken bones after being unintentionally driven over by his six-ton snowplough on January 1, 2023, while attempting to assist his nephew.
The Hollywood star’s critical condition led to an outpouring of support from fans and the industry, with news breaking on Deadline. Despite extensive injuries, Renner’s recovery journey showcased resilience. He thanked everyone for their tremendous support and made a hint about making a reappearance by saying he would be using the same snowplow on his land. Renner’s resilience in the face of a horrifying disaster is demonstrated by his resolve and subsequent disclosures, which point to a possible comeback.
Discussing his recovery, Renner told CNN: “I’m just so blessed that I have so many things to live for.
“I have a giant family, I have a 10-year-old daughter. I would’ve disappointed and really messed up a lot of people’s lives if I would’ve passed, and so there’s a lot for me to get better for.”
Renner, who plays Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, described himself as “pretty stubborn” and said his recovery “was just a one-way road in my mind”.
He said his “poor nephew” Alexander Fries who witnessed the incident had “images that he can never unsee”.
“I know that my healing would be healing for him,” Renner added.
