Why not the fourth time as PM?

Shahid Shahnawaz by Shahid Shahnawaz
December 2, 2023
Reading Time: 3 mins read

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has returned to the country and given a new direction to national politics. While the Chairman of the PTI is in jail, the Chairman of the PPP has targeted him with criticism.

The biggest issue is whether Nawaz Sharif’s fourth time as Prime Minister is being perceived or created as a conflict. There could be two political reasons for this. Firstly, to diminish Nawaz Sharif’s political significance, and secondly, to establish an impact on the public that if Nawaz Sharif becomes Prime Minister for the fourth time, there will be a catastrophe.

Catastrophe did not occur even when the former captain of the national cricket team, Imran Khan, became the Prime Minister for the first time, and neither did it happen when, for the first time in the country’s history, a Prime Minister was removed through a vote of no confidence.

Those citizens of Pakistan who have always seen the military behind the scenes or imposed martial law might have come to believe that the establishment’s promise not to interfere in democratic processes is based on reality, and the Prime Minister will be chosen by the people.

On the other hand, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said, “I know how elections are held in Pakistan. When the people awaken and make a decision, no power in the world can stop them.” It is being suggested that those who have been Prime Minister three times will come to power for the fourth time and rescue the country from difficulties.

In reality, the issue for former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is not whether Nawaz Sharif will come to power for the fourth time or save the country from difficulties because if Nawaz Sharif comes to power through the votes of the people and resolves issues, it is a good thing.

The People’s Party itself is a democratic political party that has faced allegations of corruption at the political level, but it has always supported democracy through its statements. Unlike some other leaders, it has never called for the capture of power by the military.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari explicitly stated that he is not objecting to whether they (Nawaz Sharif or Imran Khan) have become senior because age does not matter. Elder statesmen can give the country a new direction. Even as a young person, there can be interest in old politics.

He requested the people to surprise all senior politicians on February 8th when elections take place. Use your vote. Do not focus on these two individuals (Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan) based on history.

Moreover, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari clearly expressed in strong words that he dreams of becoming the new Prime Minister of the country, and he needs the votes of the people. People should not make someone Prime Minister for the second or fourth time; rather, give me a chance to see.

An important issue is that some leaders of the PML-N, including Khawaja Asif, have predicted that Nawaz Sharif is the only one who will become the Prime Minister for the fourth time, and when the PML-N comes to power, the wheel of the country’s economy will not just turn but will race.

Interestingly, no one bothered to ask these politicians what their last formula is for not just running but running the country’s economy at the right speed. If only this were told, even the alphabet letter would say, “Certainly, why not Nawaz Sharif for the fourth time as Prime Minister?”
