ISLAMABAD: The main suspect in the case of allegedly torturing minor girl Rizwana, who worked as a domestic maid, has sought pre-arrest bail.

The accused Soumya Asim filed a pre-arrest bail application in the district and sessions court Islamabad seeking bail in the case of violence against the minor girl.

The application said the petitioner is accused of torturing 14-year-old Rizwana, who worked in her house. While accepting the young girl was employed at her residence, the petitioner said the complete information is not mentioned in the FIR.

The petitioner claimed that she is the wife of a learned judge and is innocent in the case and never tortured the minor girl. She urged to court to grant her bail in the case.

Earlier, the wife of a civil judge was granted protective bail in the case till August 1. Justice Farooq Haider of Lahore High Court (LHC) heard the protective bail plea and granted the protective bail to the accused.

Rizwana was allegedly subjected to brutal torture by the wife of a civil judge in Islamabad and a case was lodged by the girl’s parents at a local police station.

The wife of civil judge Asim Hafeez deputed at the Federal Judicial Academy allegedly tortured the girl after blaming her for stealing gold jewelry.

The girl was handed over to her parents who took her to Sargodha where she was under treatment before being shifted to Lahore General Hospital.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took strict notice of the incident of torture of 14-year-old girl Rizwana who was brutally assaulted by her employers.

The prime minister sought a report and directed Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi to provide the best possible medical treatment to the wounded girl.

He said every effort should be made to save life and restore the health of the girl, adding dispensation of justice should be ensured for the oppressed girl.

He said without considering who was the accused, justice and rule of law should be ensured as oppressors and law violators did not deserve any leniency.

He asked the police to not succumb to any pressure and strictly implement the law as the society could not afford such lawlessness and barbarity. The prime minister assured the parents of the injured child that justice would be done.
