Barrister Hassaan Niazi was shifted to Karachi from Lahore on March 28 in a case of allegedly inciting the public against the state. Since Khan’s appearance in Judicial Complex in Islamabad on March 18, Hassaan Niazi has been facing multiple cases of vandalism and sedition, interfering in police affairs, and Zille Shah murder case.

In Karachi, the case was registered at Jamshed Quarters precinct on Monday on the report of Muhammad Iqbal in police station Jamshad quarters.

According to the text of FIR, Niazi and his associates incited the people through a social media video. He hurled threats against defence institutions while addressing them, saying that no one will be spared if Imran Khan is arrested, it added.

During the course of proceedings today, Hassaan Niazi’s lawyers argued that local police didn’t get permission from Home Department before registering the case.

After hearing the arguments, the Judicial Magistrate discharged the case and acquitted Hassan Niazi under section 63, and ordered to submit surety bonds of Rs. 50,000.
