SPSC examinations and credibility

Sheeraz Sattar by Sheeraz Sattar

The recent news of forgery and rigging in the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) exams is deeply concerning and calls for urgent action. It highlights the importance of having a robust system of checks and balances, as well as strict accountability measures, in place to ensure the integrity of institutions like the SPSC that are directly connected with jobs and examinations.

The revelations of fraud in the 2020 written exams and the subsequent nullification of the results by the Sindh High Court are a wake-up call for the SPSC and other similar institutions. It is clear that the commission staff failed to adhere to the rules and regulations governing the examination process, and their actions resulted in unfair advantages being given to some candidates.

The fact that the copies were checked without informing the monitoring committee and that extra marks were awarded to candidates is deeply concerning. It raises serious questions about the competence and integrity of the commission staff and the oversight mechanisms in place to prevent such malpractice.

It is heartening to see that the High Court has taken a strong stance on this matter and has ordered that the examinations be conducted under the supervision of a monitoring committee. This is a positive step towards ensuring that future exams are conducted in a fair and transparent manner.

However, it is essential that the SPSC takes more proactive measures to prevent fraud and rigging in the future. This could include increasing the number of monitoring committees, introducing more stringent checks and balances, and implementing stricter accountability measures for commission staff.

Finally, it must be said that candidates appearing for the SPSC exams come from different cities of the country with great hopes and after spending a lot of money, give unfair advantages to some candidates to the detriment of all the other candidates. The justice and merit system of

It is necessary that a strict check and balance system should be implemented in all the institutions related to jobs and employment of the country including SPSC so that the right of any candidate cannot be usurped in the future.
