The verdict on elections

Editorial by Editorial

In Pakistan, where law and order have been a mystery for the past 75 years, it is important to recognize that there is always a constitution and law that should be followed. However, sometimes politicians try to dodge the law and sometimes the courts make decisions that are questionable and become a dark spot in our history.

Recently, the Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered the Election Commission to organize elections within 90 days. This decision was made after the Commission attempted to bypass the announcement of the election date by President Dr. Arif Alvi. The federal government, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, was also attempting to avoid announcing the election date, but the incident occurred.

The excuses given for avoiding the announcement of the election date were that there were no resources or security to organize the elections. However, we should take inspiration from the Turkish President who, despite a recent earthquake that killed thousands, did not attempt to postpone the elections.

It is important to recognize that the only solution to the political and economic instability in Pakistan is timely elections. Any government that comes into power with the support and votes of the public will always provide the best solutions to our problems.
Moreover, we should also recognize that politicians and the courts must follow the constitution and law. Any attempts to dodge the law or make questionable decisions will only lead to further instability and damage the reputation of our country.

Pakistan is a country founded on the principles of Islam, and as such, it places great importance on the opinions of the public. The voting system and elections are a crucial symbol of this, as they provide an opportunity for the people to express their views and elect leaders who represent their interests. The concept of public opinion is central to the functioning of a democracy, and it is believed that the collective thinking process of a nation cannot be incorrect.

In order for Pakistan to achieve success as both a democracy and an Islamic Republic, it is essential that its leaders and citizens abide by the law and respect the opinions of the public. By doing so, we can ensure that the government is accountable to the people and that their voices are heard. This will help to build trust between the government and the people and create a more stable political environment in the country.

By prioritizing public opinion, Pakistan can achieve not only political but also economic stability. When people feel that their opinions are valued and that their voices are being heard, they are more likely to participate in the political process and engage in economic activities. This can lead to greater economic growth and prosperity for the country as a whole.
