Blaming Bajwa!!

Sheeraz Sattar by Sheeraz Sattar

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan continues to blame former chief of army staff General (retired) Qamar Javed Bajwa and in his statement, the former prime minister has claimed that he (Bajwa) had “struck” a deal with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

The PTI chief recently admitted that granting an extension to Gen (retd) Bajwa was a “mistake” and had also accused the ex-army chief of “betraying” him. Also, in a conversation with journalists yesterday, he revealed that he was not in contact with the establishment “for now”.

Though, Mr. Khan (69) is the only Pakistani prime minister to be ousted in a no-confidence motion in Parliament. He was replaced by Shehbaz Sharif of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), but he holds Qamar Javed Bajwa responsible for his ouster.

Imran has seen success rallying the masses to his side, winning key by-elections despite facing a range of legal cases that could see him disqualified from standing in the next national vote.

Wazirabad’s attack, which Khan’s party PTI blames on ISI’s Major-General Faisal Naseer, could further sway public sentiments for him- and the first signs are already there to be seen.

The PTI chairman earlier was blaming the US and was waving a piece of paper he called ‘Cipher’ and built an anti-American narrative, but now he has retracted from his earlier stance and now he is directly alleging Bajwa for his ouster as the prime minister.

The supporters of the former prime minister should ask him which narrative is right, either they should stick to blaming the US or turn their cannons to General retired Qamar Javed Bajwa?

Continuous U-turns of Imran Khan are really raising questions if he was not sure of US involvement in his ouster why he politicised the issue and dented the country’s relations with the superpower?  and when now Imran Khan is blaming Bajwa, how one can believe that he will not take another U-Turn on the issue?
